Hanger, the US-based provider of orthotic and prosthetic care, has agreed to acquire Point Designs, a specialist in 3D-printed titanium finger prosthetics. The transaction, subject to closing conditions, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.

Point Designs develops anatomically adaptive prosthetic fingers designed for durability and functional grip strength. Its products, previously available mainly through specialist clinics, are set to be distributed more widely via Hanger's nationwide network of patient care centres.

"Point Designs is the perfect partner to bring on board as part of our focus on creating the most comprehensive offering of products, services, and care for patients with upper limb loss or difference," said Pete Stoy, Hanger's chief executive. "We are excited about the experience and knowledge the Point Designs team can bring to our ecosystem of upper limb prosthetic innovation and patient care."

The acquisition comes as the prosthetics sector faces growing demand for devices that improve functional outcomes and daily independence. Insurers are placing greater emphasis on evidence-based results, which has driven interest in technologies with proven clinical performance. Hanger said Point Designs' products, supported by research and field use, align with this shift.

The move reflects a wider trend of investment in scalable, high-impact medical technologies. By integrating Point Designs' engineering capabilities with its own clinical infrastructure, Hanger aims to accelerate adoption of advanced prosthetics across its network.

The company acknowledged that the integration will require training clinicians, refining fitting processes and improving patient education. If implemented successfully, the deal could increase access to partial hand prosthetics for a broader patient base.

Hanger's acquisition signals a strategic push to expand its portfolio in upper limb care, combining innovation with nationwide delivery.
